Set in Victorian London high society, the play centres on Lady Windermere, who comes to suspect her husband of an affair after disturbing rumours reach her on her birthday. Chronicling a series of misunderstandings and deceptions in the high-society world of Victorian London, this hectic upper-class comedy sparkles with Wilde’s trademark wit. The story turns on whether a mysterious woman will attend the fateful party — creating a tense examination of social propriety, marital trust, and the secrets people carry.

Lady Windermere’s Fan by Oscar Wilde, directed by Ian Guy, ran for three nights at the village hall.

Performed by Exeter Drama Company on 28th–30th September 2023.
